How much water should you change and how often? Get the right schedule for your tank size and stocking level.
Regular water changes dilute nitrates, replenish minerals, and reset pH. For most community tanks, 25% weekly is the gold standard. Heavily planted tanks or lightly stocked tanks may only need 10–15% every two weeks. Never change more than 50% at once — sudden parameter swings stress fish.
